Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. She's released over 20 albums. DiFranco has released more than 20 albums. Ani Difranco is considered to be a symbol for feminist music. In 1990 she was one of the first people to launch her own record label. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They met at their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father had Italian heritage and her mother was a Montreal native. The song by Ani, 32 Flavors was composed by her, and performed by Ani. The song is from her album Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio release. The song was featured in the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco issued an apology in 2013, after it emerged that she had set up a three-day workshop on a Louisiana plantation. The workshop was cancelled, but she didn't show any regret. DiFranco released a new apology days later. While she is known by the name of Little Peoplesinger, she has been in contact with a myriad of musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D all the way to Prince. DiFranco went to Buffalo State College after graduating at the age of 16 from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
