Sagal was born January 19, 1954, in Los Angeles to a family of show business executives with five children. [2] Sara Zwilling was her mother. She was a singer and stage name Sara Macon. In 1975 she died from heart disease. Boris Sagal, Sagal's dad, worked as director of TV. [4] Her Ukrainian-Jewish father was as well one of the Ukrainian immigrant. She was the daughter of Amish relatives. Sagal's father Marge Champion (dancer/actress) was married to actress McNally Sagal around 1977. The wedding took place just few years after he passed away in a mishap while filming the miniseries World War III. [2][6][7() Sagal has three of her siblings who were actresses. Jean Sagal, her twin sister, along with Joey Sagal are her brothers; David Sagal, her attorney husband to McNally Sagal, is the second brother. Sagal as well as her siblings were educated in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Norman Lear, a writer and sitcom director, is Sagal's godfather. 9.
